Value Creation through Modern Retailing
The online retailing world is creating customer expectations that cannot be met by the legacy standards, processes and technology that currently underpin airlines’ indirect sales and distribution. At the industry level, the New Distribution Capability (NDC) was launched to enable airlines to begin to address this disconnect. But today, looking at NDC alone is no longer sustainable; with the significant evolution of customer expectations and the growing maturity of NDC implementations, the focus is set on a more holistic range of standards and capabilities that our industry needs to adopt to become truly customer centric. But where are we today and how are we to achieve this transition to a world of 100% Offers and Orders?
In this 5-minute video, Yanik Hoyles, Director Distribution, IATA, will share his views on where the industry stands; the value witnessed to date, as well as how the Modern Airline Retailing program, launched in 2022, is a critical catalyst for this new phase of deep industry transformation.

Modern Airline Retailing - a Business Case
Since the establishment of the IATA Modern Airline Retailing program, a consortium of advanced airline adopters (American Airlines, Air France-KLM, British Airways, Emirates, Finnair, Iberia, LATAM, Lufthansa Group, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Xiamen Airlines) has committed subject matter experts to help develop workstreams with the objective to accelerate the industry transition to a state of 100% Offers and Orders.
The Business Case is the first of the five modules the Consortium is working on. The document focuses on the next phase of the industry journey to Modern Airline Retailing, that entails a significant transformation of the IT infrastructure and underlying processes, in order to enable airlines to fully retail their products without constraints. Explore the findings and chart your course of action ahead.

Servicing in NDC - Where does your organization stand?
The NDC schemas make streamlined and automated servicing possible, with the potential to deliver a better experience than what is possible via traditional EDIFACT distribution. Yet, there are legacy constraints that block some servicing capabilities, and having a value chain conversation can help to iron out implementation challenges of servicing.
This paper was produced with the objective to explain what the IATA NDC standard delivers and provides actionable steps aimed at helping NDC implementers to assess how to remove the friction to servicing in NDC, from the customer perspective.

Offers and Orders Forum
The second annual edition of the IATA Offers and Orders Forum took place on 3-4 May 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The meeting gathered 120 participants, representing 32 airlines and 15 IT Vendors, around the objective of aligning and exploring viable pathways towards a successful transition to a world of 100% Offers and Orders.
The agenda covered a rich array of topics structured around key themes encompassing: the status of progress towards a 100% Offers and Orders end-state, the first outputs of the IATA Consortium of Airlines, the future of interlining and partnerships, as well as the standards and industry architecture supporting the transition towards a legacy-free & modular ecosystem.
The active participation and engagement from both airlines and IT vendors kept the conference room packed until the close of event and brought forth the following key takeaways:
1. The momentum of industry transition is here and is accelerating:
Presentations from AF/KLM, EK, IB and LHG demonstrated an important mindset shift with an increasing number of airlines advocating publicly the end of legacy as we move to a world of 100% Offers and Orders. 2. Concrete implementations of interlining partnerships with Offers and Orders are showing their value:
Proof of Concept (POC) projects were presented by several airlines and their industry partners, and were followed by insightful discussions about the future of interlining with Offers & Orders.
3. Industry collaboration is critical to the transition's success and IATA plays a key role through:
The development of standards supporting the transition; education on new Offers & Orders workflows and simplification; and the production of resources supporting the case for change in conjunction with the consortium of airlines.
